We (family with child) met up with the grandparents in the Waldgasthof Lorchenmühle for a few relaxing days between the two lockdowns. We weren't there for the first time, and certainly not the last. You don't have to say much about the surroundings. The Lorchenmühle is located in the quiet, wild and romantic Thiemiztal across from federal road 173 in the middle of nature and thus offers a good starting point for small and large hikes and excursions in the broader region between Hof and Coburg. A “night hike” for stargazing (with a flashlight, please) from Lorchenmühle up to the rear Schnaid is not only interesting for big city families with children. Our family room (extra bed) was nicely furnished, spacious and had a balcony. In addition to a large LCD TV, it also had a coffee capsule machine. Coffee capsules and drinks are easily available at any time for a fee (fill in the slip and settle it at the end) in a common room. The bathroom also left nothing to be desired with a bathtub / shower. We had booked half board and were able to help ourselves at breakfast at a well-stocked breakfast buffet. Everything, of course, under the conditions stipulated in the state hygiene concept at the time, i. H. Mask required away from the table and disposable gloves for the buffet. As a half-board guest you can choose from 3 possible dishes for dinner at breakfast. Everyone can find something here and if, contrary to expectations, not, you can talk to the kitchen. In general you have to say that the owners are restaurateurs in the fourth generation and you can see that positively on every corner. As a guest you feel that you are being taken seriously, you are well looked after and you get an overall performance that is more than worth your money. One of the highlights of the Lorchenmühle is the kitchen. There is still a professional in the kitchen who loves his job and who asks the guest himself. The food was well received by all generations and we look forward to dinner during the day. You can safely do without lunch on the way. In this context, the composition of the dishes (salad, main course, dessert) and the attractively presented, yet generous portions must be mentioned.

We spent a week over New Year's Eve 2019/2020 in the Waldgasthof Lorchenmühle. Originally chosen because of the New Year's fear of our dog and the tranquility hoped for there, since it is located in the middle of the forest, we experienced a relaxing holiday with excellent food, friendly and family care. If you are looking for nature and tranquility, but want to reach cities worth seeing (Coburg, Kulmbach, Kronach or Bamberg) by car, this is the place for you. Hiking trails are also on the doorstep to drain the accumulated calories. The rooms are all spacious and comfortably furnished.

We went there to eat it was perfect again

We were there a total of 3 times, of which we only got something once. Our first visit between Christmas and New Year's Eve 2018 was except the friendliness of the apparent owner very good, purely from the food. On our next visit on the spot we have thursday 20.15 o'clock arrived there were about 4 guests present and 20 o'clock was kitchen. Our demand, whether we could come back again these days, was not directly enthusiastic, but still affirmed. Saturday, 19 o'clock we were fresh and happy again in the door and on my slightly funny statement, that we hope to get something to eat today, we were informed by the above-mentioned apparent senior boss in a raging tone that just one Wedding party was gone, she did not know where to put us (the right entire guest room was empty, only some of the tables were still a bit crooked) and the hotel guests (hotel) we can not sit ... that does not work. At first I thought it was a joke, to the point when she still pointedly rushed into the kitchen with the words ... first see if the kitchen has anything at all. As expected, she came back and said there was nothing left. By the way, the chef fiddled with a large piece of meat as we passed the window. Conclusion for us: not even the hint of a try when we are back on site. I do not have to leave my money there. Too bad, because at the first visit we were completely inspired by the food.

On Sunday the six of us booked a table in the "Lorchenmühle" at short notice. As tourists from the far north, we were already enthusiastic about the castle-like ambience in the mountainous forest landscape when we arrived. A nicely prepared table in a cozy corner awaited us. I would like to mention the friendly service by the friendly staff. The dishes prepared with love and skill by the kitchen team then topped it all off. It was just DELICIOUS! All of them had different dishes, without exception arranged as a feast for the eyes and - most importantly - super tasty! The top was then the dessert - apple strudel in the style of the house and various ice cream variations, the name of which I unfortunately forgot. Taste coma! Recommendable! The evening was rounded off by an informative conversation with the head of the kitchen on the subject of steaks and their origin and preparation. We will be happy to visit this house again when we are in the vicinity.
